Transparency

fairechild was born out of necessity . . . it’s a response to the wastefulness I saw, while working for luxury fashion designers in my 20s. As a result transparency is a core value at fairechild. When it comes to our products, our materials, and our practices, we believe our customers deserve to know exactly what we stand for so here goes...

We are Stewards of the Earth

All our products are Oeko-tex certified this guarantees no harmful chemicals are used in the manufacture of our fabrics and notions. Our fabric is also Bluesign certified meaning it met all the strictest guidelines regarding their processes when it comes to the protection of the environment, health and safety in production.

We manufacture locally and with like minded businesses

Everything is designed in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and the adult collection is made in our Canadian studio. The fabric is produced in Unterföhring, Germany and the children’s garments are manufactured nearby in Kassel, Germany. We’ve partnered with family businesses to create our products, because they share our values around quality, fair wages and healthy working conditions.

We are Female-Powered

fairechild is owned and operated entirely by women, several of whom are mothers. Our design studio is in Nova Scotia and our products are made of 100% recycled water bottles. The garments are also themselves recyclable, which sets us apart from other Canadian brands. We regularly donate to charity, including the David Suzuki Foundation, Hope for Wildlife and the Terry Fox Foundation.

We Give Back to Our Community

We collaborate with local creatives to bring the fairechild brand to life: Nova Scotian photographers, videographers, graphic designers and so on. We also support local charities that we believe in, like Back to the Sea, an organization that teaches ocean stewardship, and the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre.
