Faire Child has partnered with Sympatex, a leading global supplier of high tech functional materials in clothing, based in Germany. The hallmark of their product is the Sympatex membrane, the waterproof inner material fused between an upper layer and lining.
The membrane is made using advanced processes in polyester, and consists solely of oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen, making it fully recyclable. It poses no health risk, being both PTFE-free and PFC-free. The material has the feel of cotton, but is entirely non-porous, with a structure that pulls vapour through the clothing to evaporate away. It’s remains completely waterproof under pressure; moisture stays out while kneeling on damp ground, sitting in snow or wearing a backpack.
Sympatex outer membrane and lining are made from a yarn produced from recycled PET bottles. The recycling process applied to the bottles does not add any harmful chemicals or pollutants. Their production process also strikes a healthier ecological balance - with a 32% CO2 reduction, 60% less energy and 94% less water consumption than most comparable oil-based polymer productions. Sympatex is certified in accordance with the strict requirements of Oeko-tex Standard 100 and BlueSign.
